Philly Phinancial Literacy Week Returns, Committed to Expanding Access and Economic Resources for Underserved Communities
Since the nonprofit was founded, Philly Phinancial Literacy Week INC has strived to help residents strengthen their relationship with money, writes Jasmine Browley for Essence.
The nonprofit was founded by Nisiar Smith, who also serves as chairman and president of the PPLW board.
He was inspired to start the nonprofit by his strong belief that the phrase, ‘City of Brotherly Love’ is more than just a nickname.
“It reflects a deep-rooted commitment to community,” he said in a statement.
The nonprofit’s mission is to help expand access to economic resources and education to underserved communities throughout the region.
This year marks the sixth for Philly Phinancial Literacy Week, an opportunity for Philadelphians to gain a better understanding of finances and money management.
Philly Phinancial Literacy Week will kick off with a fundraiser cocktail hour and be followed by robust programming that includes several workshops, fireside chats, and informational sessions with finance professionals on Friday, October 19.
“With the invaluable support of our speakers and partners, Philly Phinancial Literacy Week continues to grow and make a positive impact. We look forward to another year of enriching local communities and helping people achieve their full financial potential,” said Smith.
