Joseph’s Pizza Parlor has a rich history and is eyeing a new future, writes Jason Sheehan for Philadelphia Magazine.

Known as a Northeast Philadelphia staple for decades, this pizza place has held birthday celebrations, been a hang-out location for friends and families, and a place to go to for good food.

While it has had its successes over the decades, it has also had its setbacks.

When the original owners decided to sell the place, the shop was bought by three individuals who all grew up in the Northeast and were familiar with Joseph’s.

Given this dynamic, it was important to them that they keep the interior relatively unchanged. Rather, it was the menu they wanted to add a new twist and more flair to.

From its dough to its sauce and its various selection of toppings, the pizza options are aplenty. This includes a garlic-centric “Vampire Slayer” slice and a honey-infused “Queen Bee” slice.

New to the menu is a stromboli/calzone hybrid called a “StromZONE.” And let’s not forget the cheesesteaks, salads, fries, and desserts that are staples at just about any other pizza shop.
