American Community Journals has hired Jensen Toussaint as Editor of PHILADELPHIA Today.

Toussaint, who grew up in Philadelphia and possesses a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He spent the last five years in various roles at AL DÍA, a multi-platform media company based in Philadelphia that highlights the best of the Latino experience in the United States, with a focus on culture, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Toussaint started at AL DÍA as an Apprentice in 2018 and rose through the ranks as a Content Producer, Senior Writer, and Deputy Editor, where he oversaw the company’s leadership coverage, as it pertained to businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits.

“We’re excited to have Jensen join our editorial team here at American Community Journals,” said Ken Knickerbocker, ACJ’s Publisher and CEO. “His skills and experience with community-focused storytelling will help PHILADELPHIA Today grow as we expand our footprint to include Philadelphia, a city internationally renowned as the birthplace of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

ACJ — which already has platforms in Chester County (VISTA Today), Montgomery County (MONTCO Today), Delaware County (DELCO Today), and Bucks County (BUCKSCO Today) — launched PHILADELPHIA Today in July. Three months later, PHILADELPHIA Today now has 36,000-plus subscribers who receive a daily newsletter with stories that celebrate the businesses, nonprofits, schools, and people who are making a difference in the city.

“PHILADELPHIA Today is an exciting new platform, and I am really looking forward to helping it grow,” said Toussaint. “There are so many people, businesses, neighborhoods, and communities across the city, and so many stories to be told. My goal is to be a voice and allow those very important stories to be shared.”

In addition to sourcing and curating stories about the city’s businesses, nonprofits, universities, communities, and people, Toussaint will work closely with ACJ’s affiliate partners to elevate their profiles, grow their businesses, and strengthen their connection to the community — all through the written word.
