Philadelphia Art Museum Treasures Revealed in Neumann Video Tour

John Immerwahr will lead guests on a video tour at Neumann University of powerful artists whose works on on display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The public can tour the Philadelphia Museum of Art treasures in the comfort of Neumann University’s Meagher Theatre at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5.

John Immerwahr will present a video tour of iconic works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, van Gogh, Picasso, Duchamp, and other lesser-known artists.

The presentation will help audiences “enjoy these works in a new and deeper way by drawing on important details or symbols within the art and by diving into the stories and background that give the works a context,” Immerwahr said.

Immerwahr is a professor emeritus of philosophy at Villanova University. He also volunteers as a guide for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rodin Museum.

Thousands have watched his YouTube video tours.

Immerwahr is the founder of www.TeachPhilosophy101.org, an internet resource for philosophy and humanities professors. He has written several articles on the history of philosophy, public policy, and higher education.

He taught in Villanova’s Philosophy Department from 1973 to 2015 and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and a BA from Princeton University.

A former student endowed the John Immerwahr Prize in Philosophy at Oakland University in Michigan.

This event is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Forum at Neumann. The forum hosts lecture series, workshops, and author presentations to enrich the educational experiences of the university and the community.

Admission is $12, and proceeds support the Dr. Margaret Mary Kearney student scholarship fund, which assists nontraditional students at Neumann.
