Wall Street Journal Ranks Penn Among Ten Best Colleges in United States

The University of Pennsylvania is one of the best colleges in the United States, according to the recently released WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking, writes The Wall Street Journal.

The ranking rates the top 400 universities in the country based on student outcomes (accounts for 70 percent of the score), learning environments (20 percent), and diversity (10 percent).

Penn ranked seventh with an overall score of 89.4.

In student outcomes, the school recorded a score of 99 in the Salary Impact vs. Similar Colleges category and a score of 97 in the Graduation Rate vs. Similar Colleges category.

Additionally, it takes a Penn graduate eight months to pay off the net price of attending the university, which averages $14,851. Value Added to Graduate Salary at Penn is $84,761.

Meanwhile, Penn scored 64 in Learning Opportunities, 71 in Preparation for Career, 78 in Learning Facilities, and 71 in Recommendation Score.

Penn’s lowest score in The Wall Street Journal ranking was 63 in Diversity.

Another local school made the top 20 list. Swarthmore College, which is just outside of Philadelphia, ranked at No. 11 with a score of 85.9.
