Tír na nÓg, an Irish-owned pub at 1600 Arch St in Center City, is hoping to build back a community after two decades in business, writes Fionnuala Boyle for the Irish Star.

The pub, along with its sister establishment, Fadó, wants to ensure that the Irish community feels more at home there than at any other nearby bar.

Tír na nÓg is headed by Dubliner Kieran McGill, President and CEO of Fadó Pubs, but is run daily by managers Bill Boyle and Melissa Long.

After a slump during the pandemic, the pair are now on a mission to re-energize the bar with old and new happenings, including showing GAA and soccer matches, live music, and hosting Irish dancers.

Their goal is to let people know that the pub is not only there for St. Patrick’s Day, but it is an excellent destination to visit all year round.

“I don’t necessarily see Tír na nÓg as a business but as an extension of my home,” said Boyle. “I’m here because I want to be, not because I have to be.”
