Gou! in Olney Offers Tasty, Homemade Haitian Dishes

Imma and Emmanuel Laguerre, the husband-and-wife team behind Olney restaurant Gou!, named their eatery after the Haitian-Creole word for “tasty,” writes Natalie Jason for 6 ABC.
The name fits perfectly, as the pair who hails from Haiti have been serving delicious, homemade Haitian specialties such as whole fried snapper, chicken or goat in sauce, and black mushroom rice, among many other mouthwatering meals.
“Once you get a taste of it, you’ll be back,” said Imma.
Gou! features tropical decor that perfectly sets the stage for their Haitian fusion cuisine.
“When people walk in here, we want them to feel like they’re at home,” said Imma. “That’s why we have our children on the wall.”
The pair also like to build connections.
“When people come here, they bond with one another,” said Imma. “The community needed this, so we’re so happy to be here.”
In addition to sharing their culture and their cuisine at their restaurant, the Laguerres also donate food to the homeless when possible. In fact a video of the couple giving away free meals in Kensington recently went viral.
