Thanks to significant infrastructure investments along with the use of innovative technologies, Center City-based PECO has managed to record the fewest number of power outages experienced by its customers last year in the company’s history.

The number of power outages recorded in 2022 was 12 percent lower than the year before. Even when there was an interruption in service, crews successfully managed to restore power within 89 minutes on average.

Additionally, 87 percent of the company’s customers experienced no or one interruption in service in 2022.

“During the past decade, PECO has experienced some of its most damaging storms in our company’s history, and with storms increasing in intensity, our year-round infrastructure investment efforts are now more critical than ever,” said Nicole LeVine, PECO senior vice president and COO.

To counter that, she added, the company has strategically implemented a number of reliability-focused projects and processes. This has resulted in a modernized electric grid and reduced impact of extreme weather “to keep the lights on for our customers.”

“We’re proud of these efforts to deliver enhanced reliability to our customers and are continuously focused on delivering even better results in the future,” said LeVine.
