To address the impact of special education personnel shortages at all levels of education from Pre-K classrooms to high schools, Holy Family University is offering grant support to students enrolling in the University’s School of Education Accelerated Program for PK-12 Special Education Teacher Certification.

The initiative, funded by a grant from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shaprio and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, will award students the opportunity to begin the Initial Certificate program with Holy Family covering the cost of the first class and one of the required practicum experiences for certification.

Students will also be engaged in enhanced mentorship and professional development opportunities in conjunction with Holy Family’s School of Education.

Holy Family’s Accelerated Program for PK-12 Special Education Teacher Certification equips teachers with a deep understanding of the sociocultural context of education, high-impact instructional practices, and empirically supported, preventative approaches to providing equitable education to children with disabilities.

Students in the program develop instructional strategies for working with students who have mild to severe disabilities and English language learners.
